Flies have short antennae and two wings.

Bee Flies lay eggs on bee larvae.

Robber Flies catch insects while flying.

Craneflies (look like large mosquitoes) feed on decaying matter, eat algae and some eat wood.

Large Craneflies (Tipula) species in our area number about 560 species.

Flesh Flies larvae eat only dead flesh and they were used to

to clean wounds of soldiers during the Civil War.
